Name the governing specification

Write the material designation together with the required standard and edition. If an H13 or SKD61 alternative is acceptable, state the approval process. This keeps equivalence from becoming an uncontrolled substitution.

Order the actual product form

Add round, flat, forged block, disc or hollow form; supplied dimensions; finished dimensions where relevant; quantity; and delivery condition. Include surface, cutting, milling and allowance requirements.

Make quality requirements measurable

State certificate type, heat-number marking, ultrasonic-testing standard and acceptance level, hardness testing and any metallographic requirement. Each report required with shipment should be named in the RFQ.

Confirm commercial variables last

MOQ, production route, price and lead time depend on section size, processing and inspection. A complete technical brief enables suppliers to quote on the same basis and makes later order review more reliable.
